What it would do is completely gut the idea of free will and everything that Kripke was trying to do in the first five seasons. All of Sam and Dean’s actions,  their battles and suffering, Castiel’s rebellion, all of it, would be for nothing. Yes, the message is that it is futile to try to fight the tide or do what’s right. Just give in and give up.
